One thing we try to do periodically is take our girls out on dates just one on one with a parent. It was time for our oldest to go on a date with her daddy. So we made sure to squeeze it in right before school started. Her choice of events: superhero night at Chick Fil A and a baseball game.
We had to come up with some sort of cape and since we did not have the proper time to construct one, I stitched a couple of ribbons onto a silky pillowcase. Then she added her superhero logo to the back. The cape was only strong enough to last an evening of heavy climbing and other activities, but it served it's purpose. {She did however, as any proper girl, check out the "other capes" and decided she will need a proper cape at some point.}
One of her favorite parts was meeting the girl cow at Chick Fil A.
After the super hero night, they headed to a late baseball game. And as any good date, her daddy bought her a foam finger to wave - her very first.
To top it off there were not fireworks that evening, but she did get to run the bases after the game.
She had a great time and he said she never stopped talking the entire baseball game. May that always be the case.
